Raising Voices in Research Project

The University Hospital Southampton, Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement Team (Research) has teamed up with: Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (HIOW ICS), University of Winchester, Hampshire County Council, Action Hampshire and EnergiseMe on a project called Raising Voices in Research. This project is funded from January to March 2023 by the NHS under the ICS REND (Research Engagement Network Development) Programme.

The main aim of the Raising Voices in Research Project is to increase the involvement of underserved communities in Health and Social Care research. We want to find out from underserved communities how best to engage with them and increase their involvement. We would also like them to help shape what we do and how we do it by co-designing communication and engagement tools.

We are working with organisations from the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sectors because they work alongside many underserved groups and communities. The Raising Voices in Research Project is creating a research collaborative with these organisations. This collaborative will serve as a platform for:

  • mapping research opportunities
  • sharing best practice
  • working together to increase involvement.
